How To Not Get Sunburned This Summer

Summer’s here, and you may be tempted to take yourself and your family outside for some fun under the sun. However, without the proper preparations, you may risk yourself to some terrible sunburns. No matter your age or skin complexion, we all need to protect our skin from the sun’s UV rays. Here is how to make those preparations for more thrills and fewer regrets:

Use Sunscreen

Sunscreen should always be used, even on a cloudy day. Invest in a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher and waterproof if you’re at the beach or pool. For adults, you can cover up just the skin that’s exposed while infants under six months will require a full cover. Lastly, be sure to reapply after two hours to guarantee protection throughout the day.

Layer Up

If you want, you can provide some extra protection by wearing a long-sleeve shirt that will reveal less skin. You could even get ones made from materials that specifically block out the sun’s rays. If not, at least protect exposed skin from the neck up by accessorizing with hats, scarfs, and sunglasses.

Take A Break

The sun is typically at its strongest between 10 am and 4 pm. That’s a lot of sun time! Dedicate a few ten to fifteen-minute breaks to be away from the sun and under some shade. Go under the umbrella from your outdoor patio set and rehydrate yourself with plenty of water.

This summer, make sure you enjoy the season with some fun and thrills. Take the necessary steps to protect your skin and you will have an amazing time!
