Valentine’s Day is more than just a day for couples to show how much they love one another. It is the perfect occasion for parents to bond with their kids over a few creative crafts. Forget about cutting out another paper heart when you try one of these easy, yet inspiring activities.
Marshmallow Pops
Every kid loves marshmallows and these easy-to-make pops make wonderful V-Day gifts. You and your little one can make enough for her class in just a few minutes. To get started you will need:
- Packet of lollipop sticks
- Bag of large marshmallows
- Bar of baking chocolate
- Decorative sprinkles
First, push a lollipop stick into each marshmallow. Break up the chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave. Dip the marshmallow into the melted chocolate and then roll it in the sprinkles. Place the marshmallow pop in a glass to dry and then wrap the marshmallow in cellophane to keep fresh.
Hand Frames
You can create a keepsake you and your child will treasure for years to come. For this quick craft, you need:
- Cardstock
- Pair of scissors
- Box-cutter
- Glue
- Photo of your child
- Colored markers
Trace your child’s hand with a pencil and cut out a square in the middle of the cutout with a box-cutter. Give the cutout to your child and let him decorate it using colored markers. Glue the photo of your child onto the back of the cutout to form a one-of-a-kind frame.
Valentine’s Day Suncatcher
You can add sparkle to your child’s window with a Valentine’s Day suncatcher. All you need for this craft is:
- Construction paper
- Small colored squares of tissue paper
- Pair of scissors
- Contact paper
Start by cutting a large heart from a piece of construction paper and then cut out the center to leave a heart-shaped frame. Place the frame on a sheet of contact paper and have your child add different colors of tissue paper to the frame. Cover with another sheet of contact paper. Seal and trim any excess. Tape to your child’s window.
